ABOUT
Anna Sittner (b. 1982, Siberia) is a contemporary artist based in Cannes, France. Born in Siberia into a Volga German family and raised in Germany, her life across different countries and cultures has shaped a deep appreciation for transformation, beauty, and the emotional connection between people and their surroundings.
Since 2020, Anna has dedicated herself exclusively to the exploration of resin as an artistic medium. Through years of experimentation, she has developed original techniques that transform resin into sculptural, three-dimensional forms that exist between painting and sculpture. She has also developed methods of controlling and separating colors within the resin, producing compositions rich in depth, movement, and transparency.
Her work explores the relationship between the visible and the invisible, inviting viewers to look beyond the surface and discover new perspectives through symbolism, light, color, and form. Based on the French Riviera, she continues to expand her artistic practice through experimentation, research, and the creation of new bodies of work.
ARTIST STATEMENT
I am fascinated by what lies beneath the surface of the visible world.
My artworks emerge from dreams, intuition, personal experiences, and a lifelong curiosity about the forces that shape human existence. I am drawn to the mysteries that connect the visible and invisible, the material and the spiritual, and the many layers of meaning that can exist within a single image.
Many of my works begin with a symbol, a vision, or a question. Symbols have the power to speak differently to each person, and I am fascinated by how a single image can reveal multiple meanings depending on the viewer's perspective, experience, or state of mind. Rather than providing answers, I seek to create visual spaces that invite reflection and interpretation.
I am interested in the relationship between beauty and mystery, strength and vulnerability, light and shadow. Through my work, I invite viewers to pause, look deeper, and discover their own connection to the unseen dimensions of life. Minerals and crystals often appear in my work as both material and symbolic elements, reflecting my interest in transformation, nature, and the invisible forces that shape our experience of the world.
My aim is not to define a truth, but to open a dialogue between the artwork and the viewer, where imagination, emotion, and personal meaning can emerge freely.
